L. Kwesi Mate
Founder
Kwesi Mate is a real estate entrepreneur with over 10 years experience in real estate development & investment. He is the founder of Black Star Property Holdings. Black Star or “BSP Holdings” initially started as a real estate brokerage firm. Under Kwesi Mate’s leadership, the company has grown and delivered a total value of $12.5 million in real-estate developments and investments as of 2017.
Kwesi’s first property investment was in 2011 and began with a $5,000 loan from his Mother. That investment has generated total gross earnings of over $350,000 to date. His education started at the Ridge Church School in Accra Ghana, after which he gained admission to Ghana’s top boys’ Senior Secondary School, Mfansipim School. He then attended the University of Ghana from 2002-2005 where he studied Economics and Geography.
Kwesi’s vision for BSP Holdings is to grow the business beyond the shores of Ghana and into the biggest property holding company on the continent.
Michael Dsane-Selby
Non-Executive Director
Michael is a Vice President within the Fixed Asset Management and Insurance Services (FAMIS) division of Duff & Phelps based in Abu Dhabi, where he serves the entire MENA region.
He has experience in the valuation of real estate, machinery and equipment across a number of industries including utilities, aerospace, food and beverage, manufacturing, oil and gas, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals and transportation.
Michael has provided valuations for insurance, allocation of purchase price, financial reporting and taxation purposes. He is also the Relationship Manager and a part Valuation team for the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). Lastly, Michael is a seasoned professional with over 10 years experience valuing tangible assets including machinery and business assets.
Elorm Addae-Nuku
Non-Executive Director
Elorm holds a Masters degree in Finance and an MBA in Strategy from the University of Rochester, New York and a Bachelors degree in Economics from the University of Ghana. Elorm is a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP).
Elorm has worked as a Vice President and Client Manager at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in Washington, DC where he managed a portfolio of large private and mid-cap public companies.
Prior to this, Elorm was a Commercial Finance Manager at General Electric, where he was responsible for structuring and executing financing for global locomotive transactions across GE’s transportation business. Before that, he was a Senior Relationship Officer at Ecobank Ghana Limited.

Black Star has acquired a property in Ring Way Estates, which currently has one of Ghana’s top insurance companies as a tenant.
We are in negotiations to redevelop the existing property to a 4,000m² office building, with the insurance company as an anchor tenant.

Red House Residential
In 2016, the Red House Residential brand was launched. Under this initiative, we seek to offer a compelling combination of tasteful architecture, extreme attention to detail, livable spaces and value for money property investments. This development will increase to 24 houses over the next 5 years.
Beaufort Ridge Apartments
Black Star has also invested in residential projects in the prime areas of Labone and North Ridge.
The most notable investment is the Beaufort Ridge Apartments in Accra. This development has 61 apartments ranging from 1-3 bedroom apartments.
